Storyteller

Books, movies, plays, journals, or conversations each have a storyteller. Everyone is a storyteller, whether sharing a memory, reciting events of our day or writing a novel. When I write a story it is very humbling to learn others have read it. Whether you like my storytelling or not, is ok, after all, I don't like every story I read or hear either. Just know I am truly grateful for your support.

We are curious people. We seek knowledge, entertainment, and some, even gossip. We are all storytellers looking for the best story. I remember as a child, a storyteller was a fibber. Did your mom ever say, "Are you telling a story? Are you fibbing to me?" I bet the fibber told a whopper of a story to avoid timeout. Ha! That fib may have been the beginning of the best book ever!

Write your story in a journal. Make your story come alive just for you. Write a colorful description so if you read it again in five or ten years you will clearly visualize your story like a photograph. Journal, journal till you have no more words or fall asleep because you've exhausted all your brain cells. I believe writing as opposed to typing, is more satisfying. Sometimes my hand cannot write as quickly as the words in my head want out. It's a great feeling. I don't journal as much as I used too, but when I do, it's relaxing and I actually sleep better. It's like a confession, once you write it, you're cleansed for the night.

When I was about ten, Santa gave me a diary with a key. How naive' I was to think I could write anything because only I had the key. This was the beginning of my storytelling. I was spilling my guts at the end of each day in my diary vault. These were my feelings, my story to write, to remember or possibly never read again. I don't think my mom ever breached my privacy, but even if she did, she would have learned, I was still a child with childish thoughts. And here I am 60 years later still writing childish stories. And as for the whereabouts of my diary, I think the dog ate it!
