Well I've been away a few months but I'm back. I didn't realize moving a state away was so time consuming and even a little stressful. Who am I kidding, leaving all my familiar everything was bigger than I realized. But I'm happy to say I've settled in, changed my license plate and finally making new friends. Most importantly, my children are no longer an eight hour trip, but a seven minute drive down the road. Hurray!
I never understood why my grandfather loved to drive long distances until my children moved to Texas. Talk about peaceful, I loved the silence of my drives. Stop when I want, listen to music if I want, but I mainly drove in silence. Imagine driving eight hours in silence!
The eight hour drive was my opportunity to create stories and sing as loud as I wanted. I learned some time ago, if you think of something great for a story, write it down or record it fast because an hour or two later it just wasn't the same, if even remembered. Don't worry, I traveled with a recorder.
Another great thing about my drive was route options. My favorite was the scenic route which was simply green trees boardering a two lane highway. I created catch phrases for my stories on those long winding roads like: "I hop, I skip, I run" or even "row, row, rowing on the bayou we went". These lyrics are repeated throughout each intended story to capture my audience - your children. It's almost like a jingle with hopes the child will want the story read again, and again and again so they can repeat the catch phrases.
I was hoping my second book would be published by August, but looks like September, borderline October. The title is: "Rowing on the Bayou, Another Three Purple Frog Adventure", yep it's a sequel! Seems the pandemic slowed production down with the publisher as well, but no worries it's almost available.
Your children will enjoy the colorful swamp scenes, the animals, and reciting the catchy jingles. I cannot wait for you to read the story and show your children the pictures. I'm very excited and humbled for this story to be published. Last year I was on the road alot, so I guess you could say "Rowing on the Bayou" was a highway production.
Thank you for being here, I shall return.
